POWERING BETTER COMMUNITIES
Coldwater Solar represents a significant economic investment in Branch County, with direct local benefits for local schools, county services, and Coldwater and Ovid Townships.
With a materials and labor investment in excess of $200 million expected for construction alone, Coldwater Solar is projected to provide a significant boost in local wages and spending during both the construction process and throughout 30 years of operations, including:
- Over 200 jobs supported by the project's construction
- Additional transportation, supply chain, and induced jobs created by increased local spending.
- Over $35 Million in direct payments to landowners and neighboring community participants
- The project is funding around $20 million in upgrades to the local transmission system, improving the reliability of Michigan’s electrical grid.
- Coldwater Solar will make a $150,000 investment in local conservation efforts through Apex's Conservation Grant Program.
- About $30 Million in new local tax revenue over the 30-year life of the project. This revenue supports local school districts, county services, and township governments. The specific recipients of this new revenue are outlined in the infographic below.
